Amorphophallus titanum, or Titan Arum, or commonly called the corpse flower is native to Sumatra, which is known to have huge petals and musty smells like rotten meat. This plant flowers tall, even taller than humans. Titan Arum can reach even the height of 1 meter to 3 meters. These plants can be found in the interior of Sumatra. This plant has two phases in his life which appear by turns, the phase of vegetative and generative phase. In the vegetative phase the leaves and stems appear quasi. Height can reach 6m. After some time (years), this wilted vegetative organs and tuber dormancy. If sufficient food reserves in the tuber and supportive environment, plural flowers will appear. If less food reserves to grow back their leaves.

The flowers are very large and high, shaped like a phallus (actually the cob or spadix) surrounded by a sheath of interest is also large. The flowers are monoecious and protogini: female flowers receptive first, then followed cooked male flowers, as a mechanism to prevent self-pollinating. Until 2005, the highest rate in captivity record held by the Botanical Garden of Bonn, Germany that generates interest as high as 2.74 m in 2003. On October 20, 2005, the blooming flowers with a height of 2.91 m at the Botanical Gardens and Animal Wilhelma, Stuttgart, also in Germany. However, Cibodas Botanical Gardens, Indonesia claimed that the flowers that bloom there reaches a height of 3.17 m in the early hours of March 11, 2004. Flowers bloom for about a week.
