Direct flights to spectacular Lake Toba from Batam

New, direct flights to spectacular Lake Toba from Batam Sky Aviation started her maiden flight fom Batam direct to Silangit in the district of Tapanuli near Lake Toba, reducing travel time and providing direct arrival to this beautiful scenic tourist destination.

Sky Aviation Batam District Manager, Kholil Wahyudi exaplained to Kompas daily, that seeing that there is demand to visit Toba from Batam, the airline has decided to  serve the route twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays using Fokker F-5 aircrafts with a capacity of 48 passengers. Flight time between Batam and Silangit is 90 minutes.
The airline has taken the weekends to fly to Lake Toba, to allow passengers coming via Batam to enjoy Lake Toba during the weekend, and be back in Batam by Sunday. They will then be able to cross to Singapore by the evening ferries.

Many regular ferries fly daily between Singapore and Batam and Johor-Batam, taking around 45 minutes sailing time.   
Sky Aviation also flies Bali (Denpasar) – Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores

Before this, tourists to Lake Toba must first fly to Medan, capital of North Sumatra, then travel overland for 7 hours before arriving at Lake Toba, although the route itself is very scenic passing the mountain resort of Berastagi, the Sipiso-piso waterfall and offering a stunning view from the top on spectacular Lake Toba.
With the opening of this new route, it is expected that the Lake Toba Festival, that will be held at the end of December will be able to attract more tourists both domestically and internationally.

More flights and discounts to more tourist destinations

Meanwhile, Lion Air has announced that starting 21 November, the airline will serve Medan 20 times daily departing every 45 minutes from Jakarta between 05.0 am and 09.0 pm. Starting 21 November, Lion Air will also fly Jakarta-Lombok 4 times daily, Jakarta-Makassar 13 times daily and Jakarta – Gorontalo twice daily. (For information and booking click www.lionair.co.id).

Approaching the end of the year, many airlines are offering discounts, among which is Citilink.
Citilink has recently opened the Surabaya-Lombok route flying twice daily. Before the end of the year, the airline also plans to serve the following routes : Bali-Bandung, Batam-Padang, Makassar-Balikpapan, Makassar- Yogyakarta, Makassar-Banjarmasin, and Jakarta-Makassar.
